“Children Of The Next Level” é faixa de abertura do álbum “Titans Of Creation”, décimo terceiro full lenght do Testament, lançado em 2020.

Sobre a letra:

Desde o início da carreira, Chucky Billy e cia sempre adoraram escrever letras sobre sociedades secretas, ordens milenares e seitas obscuras, pois foi assim em discos como “The New Order” e, mais recentemente, em “Brotherhood Of The Snake”. Diversos hinos dos thrashers norte americanos trazem estes temas como pauta, talvez provalvemente, o mais conhecido de todos seja “Disciples Of The Watch”, mas existem muitos outros. No mais recente trabalho, “Titans Of Creation”, de 2020, temos a maravilhosa “Children Of The Next Level”, que na letra aborda um trágico incidente ocorrido na cidade de San Diego, em 1997.

“Crianças do próximo nível / Elas estão relaxando com o diabo / Crianças do próximo nível / Lá vem elas!”

Tudo começou quando Marshall Applewhite e Bonnie Nettles, mais conhecido como “Os Dois”, resolveram sair por aí dizendo que eram criaturas interplanetárias e estavam na terra cumprindo profecias bíblicas. Posteriormente, fundaram uma ordem chamada Heaven’s Gate e começaram a recrutar pessoas para passar para o próximo estágio de existência, para isso, seriam preparados e depois seriam resgatados da terra por um OVNI (vai vendo!).

“Adentrar o ‘Heaven’s Gate’ (Aqui é mencionada a ordem supracitada, que significa ‘Portão dos Céus’) / Liberdade deste mundo destruido / Esta concha mortal (corpo) eles deixam / Sobem para o céu / Subam a bordo e façam uma viagem / Para o seu destino final (as vítimas pensaram que seria uma espécie de paraíso, mas só a morte os esperava).”

A maioria não levou a sério (lógico!), mas alguns mergulharam de cabeça nessa maluquice e passaram a seguir a tal dupla pelos quatro cantos do país. Essa brincadeira durou anos e, dessa forma, resultou no suicídio coletivo de 39 pessoas (o maior em território estadunidense).

“Monte o cometa todo vestido de preto (referência clara a morte) / Saia da Terra, não há como voltar atrás / Quem tem a chave para abrir o Portão dos Céus? (nova referência a “ordem”) / Eles deram suas vidas apenas para escapar / Trinta e nove que pegaram o “passeio” / Suicídio em massa de San Diego / Quem tem a chave para abrir o Portão dos Céus? / E leve-os para o próximo nível (para levar eles ao próximo nível).”

Ouça, a canção e bata a sua cabeça sem moderação, contudo, sem embarcar nos delírios de nenhum lunático.
